Mayor's Message: Construction Job Fair and Expo

By Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez
Mayor of Moreno Valley
09/21/2021 at 09:46 AM

Dear Moreno Valley Residents,

When I was a kid, I remember my father driving to Los Angeles every morning for work and coming home exhausted late in the evening. When I became Mayor, I pledged to make sure Moreno Valley residents could get good jobs right here in town.

Since I’ve been mayor, I have championed successful initiatives like Hire MoVal, MoVal Vendor Preference, and our Community Workforce Agreement, which puts MoVal workers first and keeps them here.

Last Friday’s Construction Job Fair and Expo was yet another example of placing Moreno Valley job seekers front and center. Hundreds of residents gathered at our Conference and Recreation Center to network with the best of the best in the construction trade unions. Thanks to our job fair, more local workers are on their way to jumpstarting new careers in skilled trades. I would like to thank the Building and Construction Trades Council of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties (AFL-CIO), Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters and all our event partners and participants for making this event a success.

Great things happen when we work together!

If you missed this last job fair, we have another in-person hiring event coming up on Thursday, October 7, at the Conference and Recreation Center. This job fair will feature many different industries, including accounting, logistics, security, healthcare and much more. I invite you to update your resume, and join us to meet local business leaders and find your new career. More information is available at www.moval.org/berc.

I’ll see you there!
