Mayor's Message: Earth Day

Dear Moreno Valley Residents,

As Mayor, it fills me with such pride to know that Moreno Valley continues to be a beautiful and sustainable community.

We were once again recognized as a Tree City USA. This distinction is reserved exclusively for communities that exhibit their commitment to urban forestry.

Earth Day is around the corner, and Moreno Valley has many fantastic events to celebrate conservation and sustainability.

On April 22, Earth Day itself, stop by the Moreno Valley Demonstration Garden to receive a free sapling that will be a welcome addition to our ecosystem of tens of thousands of trees.

At this great event, you’ll also have the opportunity to learn sustainable gardening practices such as composting, vermiculture, creating seedling racks, planting seasonably appropriate fruit trees, and more.

Being environmentally friendly extends beyond humans as well. Our Animal Shelter is celebrating mother nature with their Safe a Life Earth Day pet adoption event. On April 12-14 and April 19-22, you can bring home a dog for only $50 or a cat for only $25.

Stop by the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter at 14041 Ellsworth Street and bring home your new best friend.

With these events, you can be a part of the solution and celebrate Earth Day with the City of Moreno Valley!
