Mayor's Message: Expanding Access to Vaccinations

By Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez

Dear Moreno Valley Residents,

Vaccine eligibility has expanded as more MoVal vaccination sites are up and running smoothly. If you are eligible, now is the time to confirm your vaccination plan.

Eligibility includes everyone over the age of 65, as well as those in Tiers 1A and 1B. That means farm and food workers, emergency personnel, healthcare workers, and educators can book a vaccine appointment, along with pregnant women and those with certain underlying health conditions, including heart disease and diabetes. For a complete listing of those currently eligible, visit the County's Department of Public Health online, as well as www.moval.org/vaccine.

Vaccine appointments can be booked online for sites throughout MoVal, including our new vaccination site at the former Sears in the Moreno Valley Mall. Open Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, appointments are available now for those eligible.

As I meet with teachers, parents, and vaccine providers, safely reopening our schools is top of mind for us all. To help with teacher vaccinations specifically, this Saturday, March 27, at the City’s Conference & Recreation Center, a special vaccination event for all educators will be held from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. To make an appointment for this weekend event, please visit www.appleurgentcare.com/covid-vaccine.

We are approaching one million vaccinations in Riverside County, and the pace of vaccinations is going up. The faster we vaccinate, the faster we can get our kids safely back to school and fully open our businesses. NOW is the time to confirm your vaccination plan so that we can put this pandemic in the rear-view mirror.

For all vaccination resources, including online appointment confirmation, visit www.moval.org/vaccine.
