Mayor's Message: Memorial Day Address

By Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez
Mayor of Moreno Valley

Dear Moreno Valley Residents:

I am once again humbled at the notion that so many brave Americans were willing to sacrifice themselves for the good of our nation. Memorial Day is a time to honor the generations of Americans who selflessly sacrificed their lives for the freedoms we all treasure. Their commitment and dedication have helped to preserve everything that we hold dear.

It was my honor to preside over the City of Moreno Valley’s Virtual Memorial Day Address, which recognizes America’s greatest heroes. Although COVID-19 regulations may keep us from gathering, it cannot keep us from celebrating the lives of our fallen heroes. In my Memorial Day Address, I spoke about the reality that we must ground ourselves to today, which is the reality that all Gold Star Families know, and that is our way of life has been made possible by those who have served and those who we have lost.

If you could not join me for the virtual Mayor’s Memorial Day Address you can view it here: Mayor's Memorial Day Address, you can stream it online on the City’s social media platforms available at www.moval.org. If you would like to pay your respects to the fallen, you may do so anytime at the City’s Veteran’s Memorial located near City Hall at 14177 Frederick Street.

Thank you to the members of our armed forces for your courage, honor, and selflessness. I can only hope to live a life worthy of your sacrifices.
