Mayor's Message MLK Day

Dear Moreno Valley Residents,

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the most important leaders of the Civil Rights movement, and next Monday, January 20, is the federal holiday honoring his achievements and legacy. I am proud to live and serve as Mayor in a city that strives to embody Dr. King’s ideals of community.

He once said, “Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be.”  In other words, we’re all in this life together, and we can only truly succeed together, as a community of sisters and brothers.

Serving as Mayor, I am privileged to see up close how well our city and residents work together to enhance the quality of life for our entire community. Even folks who might disagree on one matter or another find common ground in a shared concern for the well-being of our city and all its residents.

Dr. King envisioned a national community where people of all backgrounds could live together and care for each other. In Moreno Valley, we share that dream and are working hard to make it a reality.
