Mayor's Message: MoVaLEARNS

Dear Moreno Valley Residents,

This week, the good people at Amazon gave an incredible $100,000 donation to MoVaLEARNS, our unique program that allows local college students the opportunity to pursue their education while working.

This donation will fund MoVaLEARNS for an entire year, allowing more Moreno Valley students the chance to pursue their educational and employment goals.

MoVaLEARNS, the latest phase in our award-winning Hire MoVal program, is a game-changing initiative benefitting working Moreno Valley families.

MoVaLEARNS seeks to alleviate the dilemma of “Earn vs. Learn.” Throughout Moreno Valley, I’ve seen folks having to choose between pursuing an education and getting a job to support their families.

Under this fantastic program, select Moreno Valley College students are given a monthly stipend to continue their studies while holding down a job. Not only does this program help local students achieve an education, but it also benefits local employers with a more educated workforce.

Winston Churchill once said, “We make a living on what we get, and we make a life by what we give.”

I cannot thank Amazon enough for investing in these students’ futures and the future of Moreno Valley as well.
