Mayor's Message: Serving our Community on a Board or Commission

Dear Moreno Valley Residents,

The Greek philosopher Aristotle once said, “What is the essence of life? To serve others and to do good.” As Mayor and a public servant, this quote has always inspired me to do right by the City I have lived in my entire life.

Moreno Valley thrives when residents give their time to better their community. A City is only as strong as its volunteers, and Moreno Valley is no different. Fortunately, we have many options for residents to be of service.

One of the most direct ways to volunteer in your community is serving on a board or commission. We have many openings on our Library, Traffic Safety, Arts, and Utilities Commissions, and we’re always looking for fresh ideas and perspectives that will help transform our City.

As a member of these commissions, you’ll often get a first look at various plans and proposals before they arrive at the City Council for final consideration. It’s a position with the potential to chart the course of Moreno Valley for years to come.

Serving on a commission or advisory board isn’t just for folks who are retired. All you need to qualify is to be a registered voter over 18 years old, a resident of Moreno Valley, and have a passion for serving others and doing good.
