Mayor's Weekly Message 22

Dear Moreno Valley Residents:

We are working hard to bring new and exciting events and amenities to Moreno Valley.

We are creating more jobs than ever, giving our residents the opportunity to work closer to home. Shorter commutes means residents have more time to enjoy their families and take advantage of the wide variety of art, music and recreational activities our City has to offer.

Hundreds of residents attended the City’s first MoVal Artfest this weekend at Stoneridge Towne Centre. More than 30 local artists and artisans showed off their art while chalk artists took to the pavement to create amazing drawings in chalk. It was a wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

On Tuesday, we held the Grand Re-opening Ceremony for our soccer complex renovation at Community Park, celebrating this wonderful project that is bringing state-of-the-art fields that will be enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of athletes and spectators each year.

We are also busy designing a new skate park to add to the Community Park complex.

I’m extremely excited about this project because it came from you, our residents. High school students from across the City gathered signatures in support of a new skate park.

They asked and we listened.

We’re still listening. We will be holding a Community Input Meeting in the next few weeks to show you the initial concept of our new skate park. Stay posted for meeting details.

And we’re exploring the possibility of building a 600-seat amphitheater next to our Conference and Recreation Center off Alessandro Boulevard and Frederick Street. The facility would host concerts, MoVal Movies, the City’s summer outdoor movie series, the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony and many other community events.
