Mayor's Weekly Message 30

Dear Moreno Valley Residents:

Have you been thinking about adding a new dog or cat to your family, but don’t know where to start looking?

Don’t shop. Adopt.

The Moreno Valley Animal Shelter is the perfect place to find the perfect pet.

I adopted my two dogs, Kayla and Lassie, from our shelter. I couldn’t imagine my life without them.

Over the last five years, the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter has been applying creative solutions to finding loving, forever homes for our homeless dogs and cats.

We are holding regular adoption specials , working with our rescue partners and trying new events like our Fido’s Fitness Challenge jog-a-thon to raise money to support shelter pets – and educate residents about how to adopt animals out of the shelter.

Creativity and hard work is paying off.

More dogs and cats are being adopted out of the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter than ever before.

Our partnerships with Amazon and Petco are helping animals flourish while they wait for that perfect family to take them home.

Amazon generously donates pet food and toys that help shelter animals get settled in their new homes and Amazon staff regularly rolls up their sleeves to help spruce up the shelter. The shelter recently received a $20,000 grant to build an outdoor exercise area to provide a safe place for animals to run around.

The shelter will be holding its “FELINE ADOPTION FRENZY” Cat & Kitten Adoption promotion every Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday throughout the month of August. Adopt a cat or kitten for just $5 during this special event.

And on August 18, the shelter will be participating in the annual Clear the Shelter event in partnership with NBC Ch. 4 and Telemundo. Dogs and puppies will be available for just $20 and cats and kittens will be available for just $5.

Adoption fees include spay or neuter surgery, vaccinations, and a HomeAgain microchip. Find more information about these and other exciting events on our website.

The Moreno Valley Animal Shelter is located at 14041 Elsworth Street in Moreno Valley. The shelter is closed Sunday and Monday.

Stop by – and you might just find the perfect pet.
