Mayor's Weekly Message 39

By Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez

Dear Moreno Valley Residents:

Our Senior Center is getting a makeover – and you’re invited to come check it out.

New flooring, paint, and furniture are being added to make our senior center even more inviting. The City is hosting a rededication ceremony on Thursday, October 11 at 4 p.m. to celebrate.

The Moreno Valley Community Senior Center is located at 25075 Fir Avenue in Moreno Valley.

More than 50,000 seniors a year take advantage of the many classes, celebrations, and activities at the Senior Center.

From quilting and crafts to exercise classes and bingo, the Senior Center is a wonderful place for residents 50 years and old to meet new friends, take a class, and even grab a bite to eat.

The Family Services Association offers lunch Monday through Friday for just a $3 suggested donation.

In the summer, it is also one of our City’s Cooling Centers, providing residents with an air conditioned space to escape from the heat. In the winter, it is a warming center.

Our City funded MoVan, a service provided in partnership with the Friends of the Moreno Valley Senior Center, provides inexpensive and convenient transportation designed to meet the mobility needs of seniors and disabled adults.

The Senior Center also offers nutrition services, caregiver support, services for disabled

veterans, legal assistance – and even help with preparing your taxes.

The Center’s banquet hall is also available to be rented out by the public for events.

The Senior Center is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Seniors 50 and over are welcome.
