Mayor's Weekly Message 53

By Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez
Mayor of Moreno Valley

The City of Moreno Valley is gearing up to create our new two-year budget and we want to hear from you!

The City budget impacts the lives of our residents more than almost any other aspect of government.

For the last six years, the City of Moreno Valley has enjoyed a balanced budget. We were recently named a top ranked Fiscally Strong City in the Nation by the Fiscal Times.

Input from residents on how they want tax dollars spent is an essential element of crafting a budget that best serves the community.

For the second budget cycle in a row, we’re launching Balancing Act, an interactive, online tool that will allow users to try their hand at creating a balanced City budget while providing valuable feedback on your service and spending priorities.

This information will help guide the City as it develops its FY 2019/20 and 2020/21 budget.

Balancing Act also helps residents understand the City’s budgeting process, including how tax dollars are generated, where they are spent, and who is responsible for making those decisions.

Visit http://morenovalley.abalancingact.com to try out Balancing Act and learn about the City of Moreno Valley’s budget.

In addition to the budget balancing simulator, residents can also receive and estimate of how much of the sales and property taxes they paid is received by the City of Moreno Valley, and an estimated breakdown of how those taxes are divided to fund City services.

City finances can be complicated. Balancing Act makes it simple.

Try it out today – and tell us what services are important to you.
