Mayor's Weekly Message 78

By Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez, Mayor of Moreno Valley
July 11, 2019 at 03:04pm. Views: 38

Dear Moreno Valley residents,

When I talk with mayors of other cities, one thing always becomes clear to me: Moreno Valley is so fortunate to have so many residents ready and willing to give their time and effort in volunteer service to our community. Not every city is blessed with such an outpouring of volunteerism.

Are our residents special? I like to think so. But another part of the reason we get so many volunteers is that the city actively recruits them and works to connect potential volunteers with the opportunities that best match their skills and interests.

MyMoVal.org is our city’s online portal where volunteers and opportunities meet. Here are just some of the programs looking for volunteer help: Adopt-a-Neighborhood; Adopt-a-Road; Adopt-a-Street; Animal Care; Anti-Graffiti Patrol; Boards and Commissions; Citizen Patrol; Code Enforcement; Community Clean-ups; Community Emergency Response Team (CERT); Employment Resource Center; Fire and Police Reserve, Explorer Program; Keep Moreno Valley Clean and Beautiful; and Literacy Tutoring. There are so many ways to be of service to our City and our neighborhoods. Visit MyMoval.org and see what interests you.

And if you’d like to find out more about volunteering, please attend the My MoVal Summit on Thursday, July 18, from 5-7 p.m. at the Conference & Recreation Center. You’ll get inspiration from others who volunteer and are making a real, positive difference in our community – just like you can! See you there!
