Mayor's Weekly Message: Happy Back to School Week, MoVal!

Dear Moreno Valley Residents,

As summer ends, it’s exciting to think we are already looking at another “Back to School” season.

Teachers are finalizing their fall lesson plans, parents are making their final trek to the stores to stock up on school supplies, and kids are trying to squeeze every last-minute summer adventure in before their first day of classes (and last day of sleeping in).

When I was a student, the start of a new school year always brought up a lot of emotions for me—from the excitement of seeing friends I hadn’t seen in a few months to the thrills of classroom birthday parties, school dances, and sporting events.

There was also the bittersweet mix of anxiety and excitement that came with entering a new grade level and anticipating new academic challenges. Looking back, I realize these challenges helped me grow as a young adult and a future leader.

It was a magical part of my life, and I will forever be grateful to my parents, teachers, and classmates who made it fun, rewarding, and, most of all, educational.

I wish everyone returning to school this week a year full of good grades, winning seasons, and new adventures.
