The Moreno Valley City Council tonight accepted notice of City Manager Tom DeSantis’ retirement. He will depart this month.

Mr. DeSantis joined the City of Moreno Valley in 2011, serving as Human Resources Director, Administrative Services Director and Assistant City Manager before appointment as City Manager in 2017. His career of nearly 30 years also included senior management positions in Riverside and San Bernardino counties as well as the City of Riverside.

“Tom has made lasting contributions to the City of Moreno Valley,” said Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez, Mayor of Moreno Valley, on behalf of the City Council. “We appreciate his leadership of the staff and wish him all the best in retirement.”

“We have accomplished so much in this community,” said DeSantis. “Collaboration among elected officials, community stakeholders and staff has transformed Moreno Valley into an economic-development powerhouse and leaves the City extremely well positioned for the future. I have found it professionally and personally rewarding to be part of such a successful, community-driven team.”

The Council has appointed Economic Development Director Mike Lee as Interim City Manager.
