MoVal is riding into the future! On Tuesday, January 14, the City of Moreno Valley broke ground on the Flight Deck Bike Park, the newest gem in its crown of recreational facilities.

When completed, the Flight Deck will be a world-class cycling destination set to make waves across Southern California and beyond. Designed with cutting-edge features and a nod to the city’s rich aviation heritage, this one-of-a-kind park will soar to new heights at Morrison Park’s south side, near the Fire Station.

"This park is a testament to Moreno Valley’s vision and ambition,” said Mayor Ulises Cabrera. “The Flight Deck Bike Park is more than just a fun place to ride—it represents innovation, inclusion, and the limitless possibilities we can achieve when we dream big and act locally. As the largest pump track in Southern California, this incredible venue will be a hub for families, athletes, and cyclists of all abilities to come together and enjoy something truly remarkable.”

The Flight Deck Bike Park will be a true standout in the State of California, including being Southern California’s largest pump track, featuring an adaptive track for riders of all abilities, with asphalt jump lines, and an asphalt bicycle playground for young riders. Adding a touch of magic, a 1,000-foot connecting path will incorporate Ambient Glow Technology, where sunlight-charged glow rocks light up the trail after dark—a first for Southern California.

Official construction kicks off in January, and will also include site improvements such as ample parking, energy-efficient lighting, and public restrooms. The park is expected to open by late 2025.

“A new era begins in our city with the addition of Flight Deck Bike Park and will be a source of pride, entertainment, and exercise for our community,” said District 3 Council Member Erlan Gonzalez. “The Flight Deck Bike Park is designed for everyone—from toddlers on their first balance bikes to elite athletes looking to test their skills. This is more than a bike park; it’s a destination. Everyone here at the City is excited to see this project take flight!”

Flight Deck Bike Park’s airplane-inspired theme pays homage to the March Air Reserve Base and Moreno Valley’s deep-rooted connection to aviation. Its design will honor that legacy while creating an unparalleled recreational experience.
