Moreno Valley Unified School District has received two grants that will allow the district to better support its students. An Education Without Barriers Grant, in its third and final year, provides more than $175,000 for in-school and after-school programs, staff training, outreach, support and services for identified homeless youth.

The district provides school supplies, transportation assistance, and case management to ensure students stay in school even if their living conditions become unstable. The second grant, a Tobacco Use Prevention Education grant of $6,000 will help ensure the district has up-to-date tobacco-use policies and the proper signs on all school buildings.

The grant also helps offset the costs of the mandatory bi-annual California Healthy Kids Survey.
