Moreno Valley's M to be Lit for Hispanic Heritage Month

Moreno Valley's iconic M on Box Springs Mountain will be lit red, orange, purple, blue, and green in an alternating format on Thursday, September 16 to commemorate the start of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15 to October 15, celebrates the achievements, cultures and contributions of Hispanic/Latino Americans throughout our country's history. The colors pay tribute to the many Hispanic/Latino cultures and nationalities, some of which celebrate their independence days during Hispanic Heritage Month.

"Our Hispanic/Latino residents and business leaders are such an important part of this wonderful City," said Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez, Mayor of Moreno Valley. "As a member of this community, I am thrilled to shine a light on the contributions we have made not only to Moreno Valley, but to all of America."

The M is lighted almost nightly in recognition of holidays and observances important to the community. To find out why it’s lighted in a particular color, visit www.moval.org/mschedule.
