The City of Moreno Valley was honored with two Helen Putnam Awards for Excellence, one of the highest California city government distinctions, presented by the League of California Cities (Cal Cities).

“Receiving not one, but TWO prestigious Helen Putnam awards from Cal Cities is proof that Moreno Valley is not just growing, but thriving,” Mayor Cabrera said. “Programs like the MoVal Apprenticeship Hub and MoVaLEARNS are lifelines to opportunity, innovation, and a brighter future for our community.”

Since 1982, the Helen Putnam Awards have recognized cities for their innovative and effective services. This year, the City earned top honors for the League Partners Award for the MoVal Apprenticeship Hub, which connects residents to hands-on career training through partnerships with businesses and Moreno Valley College, and the Ruth Vreeland Award for MoVaLEARNS, a program that empowers youth with mentorship and real-world experience in city government.

Together, these initiatives serve as a model for how cities can strengthen their workforce, engage young leaders, and drive economic growth. These achievements reflect Momentum MoVal’s focus on youth programs and economic development, showing what’s possible when a community invests in opportunity and connection.

The 2025 Helen Putnam Awards mark the City’s fourth and fifth such honors, building on prior wins in 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024.
