The City of Moreno Valley was awarded the prestigious 2023 Crown Communities Award by American City & County for its Juan Bautista de Anza Multi-Use Trail Project.

The Juan Bautista de Anza Multi-Use Trail project features improvements on the last four-mile-long segment from the Moreno Valley Mall to Iris Avenue. This project is considered regionally significant because it completes the connectivity with other parts of the 1,200-mile Juan Bautista de Anza Historic Trail that extends from the San Francisco Bay to Phoenix, AZ, and to Sonora, Mexico.

"We are deeply honored to receive another award for our efforts to improve Moreno Valley’s trails and roadways," said City of Moreno Valley Mayor Ulises Cabrera. "Recognition from American City & County for our work on such a historically significant landmark is a testament to our commitment to delivering high-quality public improvement projects to our community."

American City & County serves as the voice of state and local government, bringing policy alternatives, trends, innovative solutions, and new ideas to public servants for their decision-making process and governmental news to the public.

Since 2004, American City & County's Crown Communities awards acknowledge cities and counties nationwide for their ground-breaking accomplishments. The awards honor outstanding public improvement projects in roadways, transportation safety, economic development, public safety response, parks and recreation, wastewater/resource recovery, and health care nationwide.

Moreno Valley's Juan Bautista de Anza Multi-Use Trail Project was recognized for its innovative approach to promoting safe and healthy communities by improving essential recreational and athletic infrastructures in the City.
