She is a member of the Upward Bound Math and Science Program, supports women getting into STEM-based careers as a way to create diversity in the workplace.

"Our students are just phenomenal," said Darrell A. Peeden, Vice President of the Board. "They are so talented and well-deserving of the scholarships. I am so proud of them and impressed at their level of engagement and involvement in our schools. I look forward to hearing great things from them as they move forward."

Moreno Valley College student and Vista Del Lago High School Alum Jakai Drayton was also recognized and shared his winning speech with the entire audience.

"Learning about our alumni like Jakai is always a great pleasure," said Board Member Cleveland Johnson. "There are so many different pathways that our students take after graduating from our schools.
