More than 30 teams competed in the FIRST Lego League Regional Qualifying Tournament at Rialto Middle School on Saturday, November 9. We are excited to announce Palm Middle School’s two robotics teams placed in the top 8 teams within the four categories and will advance to the Southern California Championship at Legoland! The Steam Dream team placed 1st in Design and the Pumanators placed 2nd in Robot Performance Board. Congratulations!!

FIRST Lego League is the most accessible, guided, global robotics competition, helping students and teachers to build a better future together. FIRST® is an acronym for For Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology.

The event is an international robotics competition for elementary and middle school students. Thirty-two student teams from around Southern California designed, built, tested and programmed robots using LEGO® MINDSTORMS® technology. The teams participated in a variety of competitions to complete a set of complex tasks based on Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education.

"Legoland, here we go!" said School Board Member Darrell Peeden. "We are very proud of the students who dedicated time and energy into this competition. It definitely paid off and we are excited that they are representing Moreno Valley in the next competition at Legoland."
