Betsy Adams Appointed Parks & Community Services Director

Betsy Adams has been appointed as Moreno Valley's Parks & Community Services Director. She held this position on an interim basis since February, and will rejoin the City's Executive Team in a permanent capacity effective May 10th. "The community and the City organization are extremely fortunate to welcome Betsy back to Moreno Valley," said Michelle Dawson, City Manager. "Her expertise, insight and thoughtful leadership have contributed so much to the Parks & Community Services Department over the past few months. Betsy brings a high level of accountability and integrity to the department. With her appointment, the team will continue to provide meaningful programs to serve City residents of all ages." Adams first came to Moreno Valley in 1990 and served in several positions including Purchasing Manager, Administrative Services Director, and Assistant City Manager. She left Moreno Valley in 2010 to become the City Manager in Grand Terrace. The Moreno Valley Parks and Community Services Department: -Maintains over 352 acres of parks, trails, and park facilities including the Senior Community Center. -Annually provides 79 youth programs, 88 Senior programs, and 31 adult programs. -Maintains and operates 30 parks/facilities; including 20 lighted sports fields and 4 lighted school district sports fields, supporting youth and adult baseball, softball, and soccer play. -Coordinates special community events, including Youthfest, Snow Day, Halloween Haunted House, and the City's Easter Egg Hunt. -Coordinates the City's July 4th parade and Family Fun Fest, serving 35,000 participants. -Operates 10 after-school programs at 9 elementary sites and 1 middle school site. -Coordinates sports facility reservations for 38 school sites. -Organizes and conducts year round sports programs for youth and adult leagues.
