Marcia Amino Announces Candidacy for District 2 Council Seat

Resident Marcia Amino said she’s running to represent Moreno Valley’s District 2 this November because “it’s imperative that an honest and experienced leader is elected.” With 25 years of community involvement including serving as a chair on the Parks and Recreation Committee, being a charter member of the Citizen’s Budget Task Force, presenting community workshops on sexual assault prevention and child abuse prevention, and her “advocacy for tax fairness and open and honest government,” Amino said, “I have learned the workings of our city government. I have also seen and learned of the special interests who have undue influence over our city government to the detriment of city residents often times, and this gives me the experience needed to be effective in this position.” Her career as a social worker working with juveniles throughout San Bernardino County has given her problem solving skills, Amino said, which “helped me learn to think outside the box and not be afraid of a challenge.” Amino said if elected she will focus on restoration of public funding and transparent government through implementation of a Sunshine Ordinance and various workshops. “In other words, I do not want business as usual for our city and I want the corruption in our city government to end,” Amino said. A citizen’s budget task force will help keep the city sound fiscally, Amino explained, and she wishes to see a decrease in dependence upon the utility user’s tax, “as it is such a regressive and burdensome tax.” Amino said she would like to see the continuance of televised city study sessions, and a change in the payment process of Developer Impact Fees, possible linkage fees for warehouse workers, and job development in a wide variety of areas. “I will bring strong leadership, knowledge, heart and advocacy for the people of District 2 and our city as a whole,” Amino said. Amino finished, “I want to bring integrity to our city and have its reputation repaired and made positive so that companies and families want to come here, do business here, develop here, live her and love it here.”
