The City of Moreno Valley’s innovative SimpliCITY Digital Plan Room has been honored with the “Ultimate Resident Experience” award at the Accelarate 2023 Conference in Washington, D.C.
Accela recognized the City this year for the continual improvement of the SimpliCITY platform, which included creating the automated Solar permitting software SolarAPP+ and responding to feedback from the community to improve the user interface to enhance residents’ experience. During the conference, Accela noted that Moreno Valley is using the software in innovative ways compared to their peers.
SimpliCITY, hosted on the Accela Civic Platform, has revolutionized how Moreno Valley handles plan submittals. The program took the City’s plan review process from 100 percent paper to 100 percent digital, saving the community thousands of dollars and giving applicants the flexibility to do business with the City on their own time.
“Moreno Valley is consistently on the cutting edge of finding new ways that allow City business to be more approachable for our community, and the improvements to our SimpliCITY Digital Plan Room is a prime example of that innovative spirit,” said Mayor Ulises Cabrera. “I want to thank Accela for this honor, and especially our City Staff for once again proving they are the best team in Southern California.”
Moreno Valley started utilizing the Accela Civic Platform in 2016 as a permit tracking system. In 2020, the City implemented an Online Application Submittal, and in 2021, it implemented the Digital Plan Room in response to residents’ needs.
SimpliCITY saved time and money and allowed the City to move at the speed of business while the world shut down during the COVID-19 pandemic.
SimpliCITY is no stranger to awards, winning the Turning Red Tape into Red Carpet award from the Inland Empire Economic Partnership (IEEP) in 2021.
