On Thursday, May 21, 2026 Council Member Dr.G (Dr. Luis S González) presented the CITYTALK “Community Impact Award” to Delma Ledesma, a life-long Colton resident, who has devoted her time and attention to serving the community with her involvement in the Colton Woman’s Club. For twelve years, Delma has been a member of the CWC and has recently finished a two-year term as President.

In her leadership role, Delma has organized and volunteered her time to not only plan, but participate as well and ensure the events were successful. Some of those responsibilities included membership luncheons, craft fairs, bingo and bunko nights, and raising funds for student scholarships. In addition, she has spent countless hours working on behalf of the CWC in connection with the City of Colton, including Spring/Earth Day, Winter Wonderland, Halloween Spooktacular, Paws in the Park, Memorial Day, National Night Out and Police/Fire Appreciation Day. “Delma has stood up to the challenges as President,” shared one long-time member Carolyn Crowe-Payne, who added, “She finished her term with so many successful projects.”

Above and beyond the aforementioned activities, Delma has volunteered in the community with several CITYTALK events such as Earp Day and the annual Church Council breakfasts. She also serves as Treasurer of the Friends of the library Board.

On a personal level, Delma is pleasant, positive, has a great work ethic and enjoys working with people. Co-member Cheryl Meyer commented, “Delma is friendly and hard-working, with a very caring heart.” She does not trumpet her accomplishments but prefers to focus on the task at hand. She communicates well and follows through with her agreements and responsibilities. Delma has been a resident of Colton all her life and loves being part of the Colton community.

The CITYTALK “Community Impact Award” was established in 2020 by Dr.G to recognize the great efforts that people make “behind the scenes” to make our community, the City of Colton, a better place.  Delma Ledesma is a great choice for this recognition. Her time and effort in serving the Colton Woman’s Club and supporting the community, is exactly what this award is about. Congratulations to Delma Ledesma for being selected as the recipient of the “Community Impact Award.”
