Spring Cleaning Comes to Residents

The City of Moreno Valley is providing residents with a free opportunity to dispose of hazardous materials during the Household Hazardous and Electronic Waste Collection Event on Saturday, April 15. Only residentially generated waste will be accepted as waste will not be accepted from businesses or non-profit organizations. Residents are allowed multiple trips, but are limited to 125 pounds or 15 gallons of material per trip. Individual containers should not exceed five gallons or weigh more than 50 pounds. Residents can dispose of their hazardous materials from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the City Corporate Yard, located at 15670 Perris Boulevard, Moreno Valley. The HHW and E-Waste Collection Event will accept: household products such as used chemicals, paint, pesticides, light bulbs, etc.; used motor oil, antifreeze, and fuel; household and automotive batteries; sharps such as needles/syringes or lancets; and electronic waste such as televisions, computers, VCRs, telephones, etc. The HHW and E-Waste Collection Event will not accept: explosives; radioactive waste; ammunition; asbestos waste; compressed gas cylinders over 40 pounds; infectious or medical waste other than sharps; and bulky items such as sofas, mattresses, appliances, used tires, etc. Unacceptable items should not be thrown out with the regular trash or placed in curbside recycling containers. Residents may schedule free curbside collection of bulky items with Waste Management by calling (800)423-9986. Bulky items may also be taken to the Waste Management Transfer Station, located at 17700 Indian Street, Moreno Valley. The Hazardous Household and E-Waste Collection Event supports the City’s Keep Moreno Valley Beautiful Program. The collection event is held in partnership with the Riverside County Department of Waste Resources.
