Have a Safe Halloween

Halloween is just around the corner, and I know many of you are excited to join in on the fun—whether it’s dressing up, carving pumpkins, or taking the little ones trick-or-treating.

As we gear up for this spooky season, I want to take a moment to talk about how we can make sure Halloween stays safe and enjoyable for everyone.

First things first—if you're out trick-or-treating, let’s remember the basics: Make sure kids are carrying flashlights or glow sticks, and stick to well-lit areas as mucha s possible. Reflective tape on costumes or candy bags can also help drivers see them better in the dark. Safety doesn't have to get in the way of having fun.

And for anyone that will be driving that evening, please slow down and be extra cautious. Excited kids may not always be looking both ways before crossing the street, so let's all take it easy on the roads and keep our eyes peeled. Your extra attention can make all the difference.

If you're handing out treats, consider offering non-candy alternatives for kids with allergies—simple things like stickers or small toys can be a hit. And if you're decorating your home, make sure walkways are clear of any tripping hazards. We want all the ghouls and goblins to get to your door safely!

Parents, it’s always a good idea to go over the “stranger danger” talk before heading out. Stick with your group, and if something feels off, trust your instincts and head home. And for older kids going out on their own, setting a curfew and checking in regularly can give everyone peace of mind.

Lastly, let's not forget our furry friends! Halloween can be stressful for pets, with all the costumes and doorbell ringing. Keep your pets indoors and away from any potential hazards like chocolate or candy wrappers.

Have a spooky, fun, and safe Halloween, Moreno Valley!
