The sun shone brightly on the morning of July 4th as the community of Moreno Valley gathered along the Boulevard, eagerly anticipating the annual Independence Day parade. This year, the Independence Day festivities were particularly special, featuring the debut of the 10th Liberty Float in the series, known as The Liberty 10 Float. Designed and meticulously handcrafted by Park Commissioner James C. Baker II, the float captured the essence of American pride and unity.

With the appearance of a majestic Royal Crown making its way down the street, the float was a sight to behold. The Liberty Queen, towering above, was accompanied by five princesses, including local model Serena Tremayne, Sammie Luna, Kota Russell, Miss Inland Empire Brittan Baxter, and the special return of Philippine Pride, Ysabella Loyola. Their radiant smiles and graceful presence added an extra touch of elegance to the event.

Riding alongside the princesses were Jim Maxwell, dressed as Marshal Wyatt Earp to ensure security, Superior Court Judge Mark Johnson and his wife, and the distinguished Riverside District Attorney, Mike Hestrin. The float, sponsored by FARMERS INSURANCE and the John Keller Agency, as well as Christen Irving of the Black Rose Foundation, showcased three main focal points: Lady Liberty, a towering crowned centerpiece, and an animated bald eagle that bobbed its head in acknowledgment of the cheering crowd.

In a delightful twist, Commissioner Baker proudly announced that The Liberty 10 Float had won the City’s “Outstanding Community Display Award.” This recognition added a layer of triumph to an already memorable day, celebrating not just the nation’s independence, but also the creativity and dedication of the community.

“I am incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved,” said Commissioner Baker. “This float represents months of hard work and the collective spirit of Moreno Valley. It’s an honor to see it recognized and celebrated by the city.”

The float’s beauty and craftsmanship were undeniable. As it glided past, it left a lasting impression on all who witnessed it, a symbol of the unity and pride that defines Moreno Valley.

This year’s celebration was more than just a parade, it was a testament to the community’s enduring spirit and love for their country. As the day turned to night and fireworks lit up the sky, residents of Moreno Valley reflected on the joy and togetherness that marked another unforgettable Fourth of July.
