Mayor's Weekly Message: Stay SAFER With Free Smoke Alarms

By Ulises Cabrera , Mayor of Moreno Valley
April 13, 2023 at 08:56am. Views: 62

Dear Moreno Valley Residents,

Keeping residents safe is my top priority as mayor.

One of the many ways we are doing that is by ensuring every Moreno Valley home has working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.

Almost five million homes nationwide do not have working smoke alarms or carbon monoxide detectors, which could lead to severe injury or death.

That’s why our SAFER program was established.

SAFER (Smoke Alarm & Fire Education Resources) provides one free smoke alarm and one free carbon monoxide alarm to Moreno Valley households in need.

All you need to do is come to City Hall during regular business hours, show proof of Moreno Valley residency, and pick up your FREE Fire Safety Pack.

If you’ve already purchased a smoke or carbon monoxide alarm, don’t worry! Bring your receipt to City Hall, and we’ll reimburse you for up to $50 of the cost.

As Moreno Valley warms up, fire danger increases. A working smoke and carbon monoxide detector in your home will keep your family “safer” throughout the year.

Learn more about the SAFER program at moval.org/safer.
