The City of Moreno Valley received five prestigious awards from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) at the 2024 Excellence in Economic Development Awards. Competing against cities worldwide, Moreno Valley earned three Gold Awards, a Silver Award, and a Bronze Award, underscoring its dedication to economic growth and innovation.

"We are honored to be recognized by the IEDC for our hard work and commitment to improving the lives of our residents," said Mayor Ulises Cabrera. "These awards reflect the spirit of Moreno Valley — a City that never stops innovating, growing, and striving to provide opportunities for everyone."

The City’s three Gold Awards were awarded to the Moreno Valley Business & Employment Resource Center (BERC) in the Business Retention & Expansion category; the Courtyards at Cottonwood project in the Economic Equity & Inclusion category; and Elevate Moval in the Postsecondary Education Partnership category. The Moreno Valley Veterans Initiative earned a Silver Award in the Regional or Cross-Border Partnership category, and Destination MoVal was honored with a Bronze Award for excellence in Print Brochure design.

The IEDC Excellence in Economic Development Awards celebrate transformative projects and initiatives that positively impact communities. With over 4,500 members worldwide, the IEDC remains the largest association of its kind, dedicated to fostering global economic development. This year’s awards highlighted initiatives across 26 categories, acknowledging exceptional efforts to create sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

The Moreno Valley BERC has helped countless local businesses thrive, and the Courtyards at Cottonwood and Elevate Moval represent the City’s commitment to equity and education. Moreno Valley’s Veteran’s Initiative shows the City’s dedication to those who’ve served, and Destination MoVal showcases the City to the rest of the world. Each project reflects Moreno Valley’s resilience, creativity, and community spirit.

Moreno Valley’s recognition from the IEDC confirms its position as a dynamic city leading in economic development, innovation, and inclusivity. The City remains committed to building a bright future for all its residents, ensuring opportunities for growth and prosperity are available to everyone.
