The City Council honored its Police Department Employees of the Quarter this week, recognizing several of our dedicated police officers and civilian employees who help keep Moreno Valley safe.

Officer Mario Chavez was named Officer of the Quarter, 1st Quarter. Chavez, a 17-year veteran police officer, has spent the last seven years serving the residents of Moreno Valley, where he has held a variety of assignments within the Special Enforcement Team and patrol.

While assigned to the Department’s Problem Oriented Policing (POP) Team, Chavez developed an expert level knowledge of the transient population. His expertise has helped develop innovative solutions to addressing Moreno Valley issues and connecting individuals with the services they need to get them off of the streets.

Officer Mike Buelna was named Officer of the Quarter, 2nd Quarter. Buelna is a 13-year veteran police officer who has spent the last seven years serving our residents. He has held assignments at the Riverside University Health System and in patrol and has built a solid reputation for unwavering customer service and attention to detail in every task he takes on. Officer Buelna takes great pride in the City and the job he does protecting and serving.

Crime Analyst Kimberly Shaw was named the Police Department’s Classified Employee of the Quarter. A six-year employee, Shaw analyzes crime trends, patterns, and suspect profiles to help the detective bureau and special enforcement teams track down suspects and solve crimes.

Congratulations to Officers Chavez and Buelna and Crime Analyst Shaw!
