Students and educators from TownGate Elementary, Palm Middle, Valley View High School and Moreno Valley High School joined about 20 other Inland school districts at the 2nd annual CSforALL Summit at UCR on Thursday.
The computer science summit was a chance for students and teachers to hear from a variety of experts on the importance of a computer science education. Representatives from the computer science industry, local K-12 schools and colleges and universities on two panels discussed the need for prioritizing computer science courses and the focus of future career needs. Local educators shared their classroom experiences and highlighted student engagement.
The highlight of the program was Code.org founder and CEO Hadi Partovi. He shared the story behind his company and explained his vision for offering courses as early as possible for all students. Code.org is a free resource used by 100 million students around the world, including our own MVUSD students.
After the morning event, students were able to showcase their computer coding work for all in attendance to see. MVUSD students shined while discussing and answering questions with students and school staff from around the region.
MVUSD is proud to be a district partner of the Inland Code Consortium.
