The City of San Bernardino is expanding opportunities for local youth this summer through a workforce readiness initiative designed to help students gain real-world job experience and career skills.
The program connects high school students with local employers, nonprofit organizations, and municipal departments offering internships, mentorship opportunities, and paid work experiences. Participants receive training in resume preparation, interviewing techniques, workplace communication, and financial literacy.
City leaders say youth employment programs help prepare students for future careers while strengthening the local workforce pipeline.
"We want young residents to see a future for themselves right here in San Bernardino," said a program coordinator. "These experiences can help students build confidence and discover career paths they may not have previously considered."
Several local businesses have partnered with the initiative, providing hands-on exposure to industries including healthcare, public service, technology, retail, and skilled trades.
